Karrawatta Wines is a small family wine company, making small batch wines from their own vineyards in the Hills, Langhorne Creek and McLaren Vale since 2012. Young! However, owner/winemaker Mark Gilbert’s involvement in the wine industry runs in the family, beginning in 1847 when his great-great-great grandfather Joseph Gilbert planted Pewsey Vale. For Karrawatta, it’s all about site, soil and climate, meticulous vineyard management and soft careful winemaking, and they’ve been fortunate to receive some great accolades already, including five stars from James Halliday.
