The Adelaide Hills’ much-loved annual winter wine weekend is back and this year’s Winter Reds event will be even more intimate and memorable than ever. Think small groups, toasty fires, hearty food, live music, warm hospitality and spectacular wine - enough to bring a rosy glow to any cheek! It's been an unusual road to Winter Reds this year but the winefolk of the Adelaide Hills are now thrilled to be able to welcome people back to our region to celebrate the best of winter.
There are more than twenty events planned from Friday night to Sunday afternoon with every part of the Hills covered. It’s time to scour the program and get your tickets!
Winter Reds is known for its long lunches and degustation dinners, each embracing the 'Play With Fire' theme. Things will be spicy at Golding in Lobethal with an Indian Fest, while the crew at Cobb’s Hill Estate in Oakbank will be celebrating Christmas in July.
Pinot lovers should head to Howard Vineyard in Nairne for a Pinot Party, or to Mt Lofty Ranges Vineyard for Pinot in the Dark where guests will work their way through eight consecutive vintages of Pinot Noir matched to a four-course dinner.
Karrawatta Wines in Meadows will be hosting a Back Vintage Bonfire and The Lane Vineyard in Hahndorf invites you to gather family and friends for a reunion lunch.
There will be Winter Ski Lodge fun at Saint & Scholar in Verdun, and a German Alpine Experience with Mordrelle Wines at the Hahndorf Inn. The Locavore in Stirling has also partnered with Mordrelle Wines to bring you an Argentinian Banquet.
The fabulous new Sidewood Restaurant and Cellar door in Hahndorf is putting on a Feast by the Fire with wood fired meats and pizzas, DJ’s on the deck with mulled wine, cider and s’mores.
So shrug off your jacket, shake your scarf free and fire up your winter soul in the Adelaide Hills!
Note: Most events are ticketed this year and at many venues booking will be essential, to allow them to adhere to their COVID-19 operating policies around capacity and sanitisation. Tickets and bookings can be arranged directly with each winery.
Ticketed events sell out quickly and need to be booked in advance. Admission to general events is free, and food, wine and other beverages can be purchased separately. The official souvenir wine glass is available for $10 at all general events and is your 'passport' to purchase wine wherever you go.
