The region’s patchwork of peaks, slopes, climates and profiles produces a diverse range of styles – from premium whites such as its iconic Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Riesling and Grüner Veltliner (one of the Austrian varieties the region is pioneering in Australia), to elegant cool-climate reds including Shiraz and Pinot. Emerging styles to tempt your palate also include Arneis and Gamay.

Adelaide Hills has a small community of winemakers centred in and around Basket Range at the forefront of the natural wine movement, using minimal intervention and additions. Look out for labels such as Commune of Buttons, Lucy M Wines, Chateaux Comme Ci Come Ca, BK Wines, The Other Right, and Gentle Folk. Try them at The Uraidla Hotel in Uraidla.
